Who do They Think They are? Published: September 10, 2003 We must condemn the continuing exercise of extra-legal assassinations by the government of Israel. In these actions, that nation, one which ostensibly subscribes to Western and American notions of due process, incorrectly and inappropriately relegates and ignores these hallowed principles, as it assumes the role of judge, jury, and executioner. Our American tradition of innocent until proven guilty, a cornerstone judicial principal upon which we all agree and are proud, compels us to decry these understandable, but misguided and murderous actions. The cycle of "terror attack--Israeli response--terror attack" is a symptom of the conflict between the state of Israel and the Palestinian people. This writer is in the early stage of researching and formulating a proposal to permanently end this conflict. |
